BAGAMOYO

BAGAMOYO
The beautiful world's heritage town of Bagamoyo was founded at the end of the 18th century and was the original capital of German East Africa. The town was one of the most significant trading ports along the East African coast. Bagamoyo is home to an abundance of culture and history having been influenced by Indian and Arab traders, by German colonial Government and Christian missionaries over the years. It has recently been considered as a world heritage site and today, it is the centre for Dhow sail-boat building.

Situated approximately 50 km North of Dar es Salaam in East Africa's peaceful Tanzania, Bagamoyo is well worth exploring. Ruins of German-era colonial buildings and alleyways echo the footsteps of history alongside a beautiful beach side backdrop of the Indian Ocean and fishing villages.  For years the town has attracted travelers who seek the delights of a natural beauty and a culturally and historically rich environment.
